Memory Days

I heard something when I was younger about memory days. Things that happen in your life that are so perfect that you take notice of them and remember them forever. I had one of these days with Harvey last fall. It was a sunny late October day and we just had to go out. We hopped in the van and drove out to the Westsyde Petting Zoo. Harvey loved the petting zoo. Pigs, goats, llama, emus - all kinds of animals. They day was quiet out there and the animals were hungry for attention. I bought a package of the goat snacks to feed to them They are just compressed hay and very dry and grass smelling. Harvey decided he wanted them as well, so every few times after feeding the goats and llamas, Harvey got a couple.

That was great fun and very amusing and Harvey loved it. We got back in the van and drove to the north shore of Kamloops. We parked and went to Harv;s favorite pet food store. He loved to walk around and sniff and pick out a treat or two. We then walked a block away to Red Beard to grab some lunch. Another of Harv's favorite places. We got a table of the covered patio and the server brought some water for him. He was always thirsty. He layed on the cool cement floor and waited for lunch to come as he chewed on his treat. Lunch came, with fries as always, and we ate. Fries always found their way to Harvey.

I sat and drank a beer and Harvey flopped on his side and fell asleep. It had already been a big day for him. We left and drove to downtown and parked. We took a quick walk around and went to Red Collar. A sunny afternoon to end a big adventure seemed appropriate. We sat on the patio next to a table with a big older Golden Retreiver. Harvey was tired and didn't seem to mind this strange dog being there.

They both fell asleep in the shade and we so cute together. It was a great end to a perfect day. The day that had all of the ingredients for a memory day. A day so perfect that it sears itself into your memory. A day you look back on and smile when thinking about it.
